Disable Category Rules Globally

Disable Category Rules Globally

This setting disables category-wide cart limits across the store. Use it when you want customers to bypass limits configured for an entire category while keeping other product and cart rules in place.

How to Configure

Step 1: Navigate to General Settings

  • Go to WooCommerce > Min Max Quantities > General
  • Scroll down to find the Category Settings section

Step 2: Disable Category Rules

Check the Disable Category Rule checkbox.

Step 3: Save Changes

Click Save Changes to apply the setting store-wide.

What This Setting Does

When enabled, the plugin skips category-wide cart limit checks, including:

  • Minimum or maximum total quantity for a category
  • Minimum or maximum total value for a category
  • Minimum or maximum number of different products from a category

For example, if a category requires customers to buy at least 5 items, that category minimum will not be enforced while this setting is enabled.

Important Notes:
Does NOT remove category-wide limit settings (they’re just ignored).
Can be re-enabled at any time to restore category limits.

What This Setting Does Not Do

This setting does not disable per-product limits inherited from a category. If a category sets a minimum quantity, maximum quantity, price limit, or quantity step for each product, those product-level rules continue to apply.

It also does not disable global, product-level, variation-level, or role-based limits.

Category settings are preserved when this option is enabled. Uncheck the setting and save to resume enforcing category-wide cart limits.

Testing the Setting

  1. Configure a category-wide minimum quantity, such as 5 items.
  2. Add one item from that category to the cart.
  3. With the setting unchecked, the cart should show a notice that the category minimum has not been met.
  4. Enable Disable category rule for all products and save.
  5. Refresh or update the cart. The category minimum notice should no longer appear.

To confirm that per-product category rules remain active, configure a per-product rule on the category and test a product in that category separately.

Next Step

You can move on to Individual Product Variation-Level Limits to control individual variations, such as size or color, within a product.
